Schalke may make a move for former player Kevin Kuranyi, whose deal at Russian Premier League side Dinamo Moscow expires at the end of the season, reports from Der Westen suggest.
The now thirty-three year old played in Gelsenkirchen for five years between 2005-2010 playing 162 times scoring 71 before moving to the Russian capital for free.
The Brazilian born former German international made 52 appearances for die Nationalmannschaft and scored nineteen between 2003-2008.
Kuranyi has fifteen goals in all completions to his name this season ten of which have came in twenty-three Russian premier league games.
Schalke have just two senior strikers in Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Kuranyi would make three. The duo contributed 18 goals (nine each) to Schalke's total of 42 Bundesliga goals last term as they finished sixth in the table.
Kuranyi and Dinamo Moscow find themselves in fourth place and will secure fourth place with a draw against FK Krasnodar who are in third currently ten clear of Dinamo.
