On Tuesday, 1. FC Union Berlin announced yet another acquisition for next term. This time, it was Kenny Prince Redondo of SpVgg Unterhaching.

The 20-year-old has joined up with the capital club for free and was handed a two-year deal. The physically-strong midfielder was a fixture of the Unterhaching side that were relegated to the Regionalliga this season, making 25 appearances.

Redondo joins Stephan Fürstner (Greuther Furth), Dennis Daube (St. Pauli), Collin Quaner (VfR Aalen) and Benjamin Kessel and Raffael Korte (Eintracht Braunschweig), as Norbert Düwel looks set to hit his goal of being a Bundesliga side by 2017.

Düwel spoke to the club website, following his move: "Kenny is a young and very fast player who we have monitored closely, and he has played an important role in the 3. Liga."

He added, "He was a regular this season as a 20-year-old in his team and we believe that he can make it in the 2. Bundesliga. We will work together with him to reach this level and take the next step in his development."

Redondo himself spoke of his happiness after signing: "I am very excited about the club and am excited to take up the challenge of the 2. Bundesliga. Of course, I know that I have a lot to learn, but the coach is willing to give young players a chance."
