On Thursday, Mike Büskens and SpVgg Greuther Fürth announced that they would not be working together in the coming season.

After guiding Fürth to safety, just, the 47-year-old had felt that his journey with the club had run its course this time around. Two wins against Fortuna Düsseldorf and SV Darmstadt 98 proved the difference, meaning a final day defeat to RB Leipzig didn't have any drastic consequences.

Büskens confirmed the news on his personal Instagram account, "After a conversation on Monday with M. Meichelbeck and M. Mutzel, I have taken the decision to not remain at Fürth for th coming season."

Greuther Fürth's President, Helmut Hack, appreciated the work done by their now former coach: "We have to thank Mike Büskens a lot, as he has stepped in during a very difficult situation and has contributed significantly to keeping the club in the league."

Michael Mutzel added that he thought the club would have a new manager in place very soon, "We are now conducting intensive talks and are confident that we can quickly introduce the successor."
