On Friday morning, Hertha BSC confirmed that Pál Dárdai, who had been leading the team, would be offered the job permanently.

Dardai, 39, helped guide the capital club to safety this season after Jos Luhukay's sacking earlier in the campaign. The Hungarian, despite losing four of the last five games, managed to avoid relegation by just one point - thanks to an impressive seven game unbeaten run.

"The ink is just dry. Pal Dardai is our new head coach," tweeted Michael Preetz. Hertha's General Manager confirmed the news on his personal Twitter account, along with a four second video of Daridai signing on the dotted line.

The former under-15 coach did not have the details of his contract made public when the tweets were made public. However going by his statement on Thursday, when he said talks were 'very positive', it could be a long-term deal.

Dárdai was formerly a player in the capital club, having made almost 300 appearances in over a decade at the Olympiastadion.
