Vfl Wolfsburg will be eager to make it an excellent season as they aim to win DFB-Pokal after finishing second in the Bundesliga.
Borussia Dortmund, however, will be looking to give manager Jürgen Klopp the perfect send-off with a cup victory. Saturday's game in Berlin will bring Klopp's seven-year reign to an end and will be hoping he makes it two Pokal triumphs.
Klopp said his farewells to the Dortmund faithful last week after their 3-2 win over Werder Bremen and a win in Berlin will be the perfect ending to a successful spell in charge and also a bright end to a frustrating season for the supporters.
Wolfsburg having finished as runners-up in the Bundesliga will be wanting to make it a memorable season with a Pokal crown. They've had the better results between the two sides in the league. A 2-2 draw at the Signal Iduna Park and a 2-1 win at the Volkswagen arena which will give them confidence going into the third meeting of the season.
Junior Malanda
Dieter Hecking's players will wear commemorative shirts on Saturday in honour of midfielder Junior Malanda, who was tragically killed in a car accident in January.
Speaking ahead of the game, Hecking said: "We are in the nice situation that we have nothing," he told reporters. "We are not under pressure.
"I believe that the pressure is higher on Dortmund. But it is also quite clear that you want to win the title if you come to the final. Participation is beautiful, but to be able to then keep the trophy and exhibit for all time in the museum would be great."
"This is no Klopp final, we do not play against Klopp and Dieter Hecking does not play against Klopp. This is a game between the teams of Wolfsburg and Borussia Dortmund."
Dortmund progressed the final after an exciting win over rivals Bayern Munich on penalties. The score was 1-1 after extra time and Munich failed to score a single penalty as they lost 2-0.
Wolfsburg eased their way into the final as they dispatched Arminia Bielefeld 4-0 with Max Arnold scoring twice.
The Wolves will be seeking revenge, having been knocked out of this competition by BVB at the last-four stage in 2013-14.
Across the last five games, Wolfsburg have won two, including the recent 2-1 victory, while Klopp's men have also claimed two wins of their own.
It's been a frustrating season for Klopp and his side but a Pokal win will be the 'light at the end of the tunnel' for the club and supporters as they prepare for a new era under incoming manager Thomas Tuchel.
