RB Leipzig announced, on Thursday, that sporting director Ralf Rangnick would also be taking up the job as head coach this summer.

The contract will initially last one year, as he combines the role of sporting director with head coach. It is expected that he will continue as Red Bull Salzburg sporting director, too.

The 56-year-old has a vast amount of experience as a manager, including stints with; VfB Stuttgart, Hannover 96, Schalke 04, TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and now the side from Saxony.

Rangnick said, "I look forward to the task and I believe that it is the most appropriate solution. I know the team and the individual players and maybe my new role will help to convince one or two potential newcomers to join us."

Achim Beierlorzer is now his assistant coach, in a day that saw a series of personnel changes. Frederik Gößling has arrived from SpVgg Greuther Fürth and will now become goalkeeper coach, with Perry Bräutigam replacing Thomas Schlieck as goalkeeper co-ordinator. Nicklas Dietrich joins from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and, alongside Kai Kraft, is now fitness coach.
