Eintracht Braunschweig have completed the signing of Patrick Schönfeld on a three-year deal from relegated 2.Bundesliga club, Erzgebirge Aue.

Schönfeld, 25, spent just one season at Aue, making 28 appearances, scoring two goals, since his move from Arminia Bielefeld. The midfielder has also had spells at both 1. FC Nürnberg and Rot-Weiß Oberhausen.

“We are deligted to have Patrick come in to strengthen our central midfield. He is very mobile and present play, who can operate in the defence as well as the attack,” Eintracht’s Sporting Director, Marc Arnold, told the club’s website. “Having made over 100 second division appearances, he also boasts a good deal of experience.”

Schönfeld added: “Eintracht is a history steeped club with fantastic fans and always a wonderful atmosphere in the stadium.

“I want to take the next step in my personal development and I am really looking forward to the tasks awaiting me over the next three years.”

Eintracht were relegated from the Bundesliga in the 2013/14 season, finishing the season with just 29 league goals, missing out on a Bundesliga playoff place by two points.
