After initial reports circulated on Monday that Tomas Oral had been given the FSV Frankfurt job on a permanent basis, the club confirmed the news on Wednesday.

The 42-year-old has been rewarded with a one-year deal in Frankfurt, after keeping them in the 2. Bundesliga last season.

Benno Möhlmann was sacked with just a single game remaining and Oral stepped in to beat Fortuna Düsseldorf 2-3 and secure their second division status.

Oral was previously a player at the Stadion am Bornheimer Hang, having featured for the club between January 2006 to October 2009.

"Tomas Oral has fully justified the confidence that we put in him during the relegation battle," said managing director Clemens Krüger.

"He is an FSV-er through and through a FSV-ler and fits the club as a person.

"He is just the right person to lead, and develop, the team in the future, with a lot of passion coming from his playing time."
