Roman Bürki is close to moving to Borussia Dortmund from relegated SC Freiburg, according to Kicker reports.

Bürki appeared in each of Freiburg's 34 Bundesliga games last season as well as their two DFB Pokal games. In that time the young Swiss shot stopper, 24, conceded a collective 49 times.

Bürki moved to Freiburg last summer from Grasshoppers Zurich and put pen to paper on a long term deal that will keep him at the club until 2018.

Despite being part of a relegated side, Bürki gained many deserved plaudits and was Bundesliga goalkeeper of the season for many reporters and fans alike due to his stellar performances stopping Freiburg from being properly embarrassed week in week out.

It is believed Dortmund are targeting Bürki as a long term replacement to long serving keeper Roman Weidenfeller, 34, whose deal at the Westfalenstadion expires next summer.

Dortmund will have to fork out just under €5 million for the two-time Swiss international who will turn 25 later this year as they will hoe to improve on their poor seventh placed finish last term.
