1. FC Kaiserslautern have confirmed the signing of Stipe Vucur from relegated Erzgebirge Aue.

The 23-year-old Austrian defender was a key man for the Violets last season, despite their relegation, missing just one game all season.

Vucur has been rewarded with a contract until June 2018 nad arrives for free. He is likely replace RB Leipzig bound Willi Orban.

Kicker reportedly claim that both SV Darmstadt 98 and FC Ingolstadt 04, who were both promoted to the Bundesliga, were also interested in the defender.

"Stipe Vucur, in his first year in the 2. Bundesliga, has shown and demonstrated his great potential," said sporting director Markus Schupp.

"He is a technically gifted, strong-tackling centre-back, who also impresses with his aerial strength.

"In addition, he has shown with three goals and two assists in the last season at Erzgebirge Aue, and with his total of 15 goals in Austrian, he has an eye for goal."
