Bundesliga new boys, FC Ingolstadt 04, have confirmed that Roger has extended his contract with the club.

The 29-year-old has been at the Bavarian side since a 2012 move from Energie Cottbus and became a crucial part of their team.

He has now committed his future to Ingolstadt until 2017, and will join them in their first ever season in the Bundesliga.

The Brazilian featured 33 times for die Schanzer last season and was, arguably, the best holding midfielder in the division.

"Roger is an immensely important part of our team, not just in footballing terms, but also a a person," added head coach, Ralph Hasenhüttl

"He is an absolutely key player. We are very happy that he will remain with us."

Thomas Linke, sporting director at Ingolstadt, said that he rejected 'other offers' to remain at the club.

Along with Pascal Groß and Alfredo Morales, the Audi-backed outfit had one of the strongest midfield's in the 2. Bundesliga last term.
