FC Ingolstadt 04 have been fined €2,000 by the Deutsche Fußball-Bund (DFB), after a hard boiled egg was thrown onto the pitch during one of their home games.

The game against FSV Frankfurt, ironically, took place on April 5th, which was Easter Sunday.

Ingolstadt ran out 2-0 winners that day, as they continued their march to the 2. Bundesliga title.

The hard-boiled egg was lobbed onto the pitch from the home section in the 85th minute, and the club will now have to shell out a hefty sum.

According to the DFB sports court, this was an incident of "unsportsmanlike conduct" and was punishable by a fine of €2,000.

The judgment is final and Ingolstadt have agreed to it.

This was not the only fine hadn't out to a second division club on Monday, as Eintracht Braunschweig had a €10,000 fee to pay out.

1. FC Kaiserslautern manager, Kosta Runjaic, had to cough up €3,000 after comments made to Wolfgang Stark after the SV Darmstadt 98 game.
