Following his release from Fortuna Düsseldorf at the start of the month, Heinrich Schmidtgal has found a new club; signing for Tomas Oral's FSV Frankfurt.
The Kazakhstan international and former Greuther Fürth man signed a two year deal at the Frankfurter Volksbank Stadium.
Schmidtgal's injury plagued campaign
Schmidtgal had endured a torid time at the Esprit Arena over the last two seasons, following his move from Franconia in the Summer of 2013. The left back only managed 18 appearances in an injury hit spell in Düsseldorf. Before his move from the Trolli Arena, Schmidtgal was held in high regard following a good season in the Bundesliga and the German born Kazakhstani will be hoping a move the move to FSV Frankfurt will reignite his career.
Schmidtgal commented on the move and was optimistic for his time with die Bornheimer saying he was "looking forward to the new challenge," before stating that last season didn't go as planned, "because of the knee injury."
Whilst also thanking the FSV hierachy for this opportunity, "I thank FSV for their confidence in me."
Tomas Oral who took over from Benno Möhlmann with only one 2. Bundesliga game remaining, and successfully steared die Bornheimer clear of relegation, talked of Schmidtgal in high esteem commenting: "Heinrich Schmidtgal can take care of our defence, making it more safe and bringing leadership qualities".
Whilst FSV Frankfurt managing director added, "He (Schmidtgal) brings both Bundesliga experience, as well as International experience. He'll be able to return to his playing levels that he showed at Greuther Fürth."
