Bayern Munich sign Brazilian attacker Douglas Costa for €30million euros.

Last week, speaking to Romanian news outlet Dolce, Shakhtar manager Mircea Lucescu confirmed the signing is all but completed as the two clubs had been in negotiation for months.

This morning, the Bavarian side announced that the 24-year old had finally completed his move to Germany after months of negotiations.

Proud to finally be a Bayern player

Bayern fended off the likes of La Liga giants Barcelona, Premier League giants in Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as Ligue 1 side AS Monaco who were also interested in the attacker. But, he opted for the move to the German record holders and he spoke of his delight stating: "A dream has come true for me today. I'm proud to become a player for Bayern."

Costa, also can be called Douglas, played 203 times for the Ukrainian side winning the Ukrainian Premier League five times, Ukrainian Cup and the Super Cup three times. Before arriving at the Donbass Arena, Costa spent two years at Brazilian side Grêmio before making the €6million switch.

The Bayern Munich fans can expect great things from the Brazilian international who was dubbed a ‘perfect replacement for Arjen Robben’ by now-former manager Mircea Lucescu, he has been capped eight times and represented his nation in Chile at the Copa América, scoring his first and only goal, up to date, in Brazil’s 2-1 win over Peru, last month.

The Brazilian featured in Shakthar’s humiliating defeat in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League last season, he has high hopes for the future and is keen to make an impact at the Allianz Arena. He also said: "I'm looking forward to playing for this magnificent team and will do everything I can to fulfil the expectations placed in me.”

Big things expected from the Brazilian

Furthermore, on the Bayern Munich club website he went on to say: "I’m happy to be able to wear the Bayern shirt for the next five years. Negotiations started as soon as FC Bayern showed they were interested. I was keen to sign straight away. And I hope I can live up to my own expectations."

Before concluding on what he hopes to achieve at Bayern: "If you wear the club shirt you obviously want to win titles. That could be the Bundesliga, DFB Cup or Champions League but I’d really like to finish top in all the competitions."

Following Brazil’s elimination from the Copa América, the Bundesliga winners and their fans can have a first look at the attacker on the July 11, a day before Bayern play FC Augsburg in the semi-finals of the Telekom Cup, with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Hamburger SV also featuring in that tournament.
