Fortuna Düsseldorf have added a new forward to their ranks. Mike van Duinen joined the club from ADO Den Haag on Friday.

The 23-year-old has been rewarded with a four-year deal with the Westphalian club, after a solid season in the Netherlands. However, no details were made public about a transfer fee.

Van Duinen scored five times and assisted two further goals, helping them to a secure mid-table finish.

During his entire time with his home town club, he managed 30 goals and 11 assists in 120 games. After spending his entire professional career in den Haag, he'll hope to add a few more goals to his game in Düsseldorf.

Van Duinen excited about the challenge that lies ahead

"Fortuna is a great club with a great stadium," he said. When he entered the ESPRIT arena, his first thoughts were, "It's unbelievable, what a stadium!"

Van Duinen added that "very good discussions" with head coach Frank Kramer and sporting director Rachid Azzouzi made his decision to choose Fortuna "very easy".

Azzaouzi, who also spoke at his unveiling, eluded to van Duinen's "perseverance, [his] eye for goal and [his] mentality" as being three of his key attributes.

Despite being at different clubs, he admitted that Kramer and himself had been scouting the forward while at different clubs for "a few years". Azzaouzi also called him an "undisputed key player", clearly pleased with the signing.

Dutchman is just one part of the Fortuna shake-up

Van Duinen is one of many new signings that Kramer has made, as he looks to make his mark on the Fortuna team.

Sercan Sararer, Julian Koch, Fabian HolthausKarim HagguiDidier Ya Konan and Christian Strohdiek have all joined on a permanent basis, while Kevin Akpoguma, a promising Hoffenheim youngster, has joined on a two-year loan.

Charlison Benschop is one big name departure, along with fellow forward Erwin Hoffer, meaning that van Duinen and Joel Pohjanpalo have some big boots to fill.
