1.FC Köln have completed the signing of Borussia Dortmund and Serbian midfielder, Milos Jojic, for an undisclosed fee.

Jojic, 23, has signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga club, with both sides agreeing to undisclosing the transfer fee, although this is expected to be around €3million.

Köln’s sporting director, Jörg Schmadtke was full of praise for Jojic, who is a “talented player” who “has featured on the international stage,” with Serbia.

Milos Jojic signs with international experience

Jojic started his career at Partizan Belgrade, whilst featuring in the Europa League for the Serbian side, before making the switch to Borussia Dortmund in January 2014.

The 23-year old featured in 20 Bundesliga games for Dortmund, whilst also playing a part in their Champions League campaign, where he featured on five occasions – starting all three group games.

One thing that caught the eye of Schmadtke, was that Jojic could play in a “variety of postitions” whist being “good on dead-ball situations.”

Manager, Peter Stöger was said to be “happy” that the Serbian “chose to join us,” who “made it clear he would do whatever it takes to fit into our team.”

Jojic will join up with his new teammates on Monday morning at the Geissbockhem. The versatile midfielder will wear the number eight jersey for 1.FC Köln.

Felipe Santana fails 1.FC Köln medical

The Bundesliga side had also been linked with a move for Schalke 04 and former Borussia Dortmund forward, Felipe Santana.

Santana’s move however did not go through, with the Brazilian failing his medical, after the doctors noticed a tear in his right calf muscle.

Club confirms they're still in search of defender

Following the departure of Kevin Wimmer to Tottenham Hotspur, Köln have just one central defender active in training. Dominique Heintz joined the side from 1.FC Kaiserslautern in July, having also featured for Germany U21s at the 2015 UEFA Under-21 European Championships – which saw Germany go out at the semi-final stage, losing 5-0 to Portugal.

Schmadtke has confirmed that the club are still looking for a central defender as “Mergim Mavraj will remain sidelined for some time,” before stating the club will “continue to look at further options.”
