TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have confirmed the departure of Luis Advincula to Turkish Super Lig side Bursaspor. The German football magazine, kicker, report that the transfer has netted Hoffenheim €1.5m.

The Peruvian defender had performed well at the 2015 Copa America and after Andreas Beck's departure and Kevin Akpoguma's loan to Forutna Düsseldorf, it looked likely that he would be able to fight it out with their new signing, Pavel Kaderabek.

A transfer that never worked out

However, this has not been the case. After making his name at Sporting Cristal, the Sinsheim side snapped him up from Tavriya Simferopol back on a four-year deal back in January 2013. He was then loaned out to Ponte Preta and Cristal once more, before spending last season with Vitória Setúbal.

His performances have been steadily improving along with his value, but after just two appearances he is on the move once again. It seems odd that he was only afforded so few chances in the Bundesliga, especially given Markus Gisdol's defensive woes in recent years. However, those will be eased slightly with Niklas Süle's return to fitness and his decision to sign an extension at the club.

Advincula hoping to prove his worth elsewhere

The 25-year-old signed a three-year contract in Turkey, along with the option for a further season. The Dietmar Hopp-backed team will be happy to have made a profit on him, after initially signing him for a €900,000 fee. Advincula will most probably be happy that the ordeal is over, now knowing where his future lies and having a chance to get some first team football while playing at a high standard.

He is just one of a handful of players Hoffenheim have sold on this summer which have never really featured in the Bundesliga. Vincenzo Grifo, who joined SC Freiburg, seems to be more than happy with his decision to leave for the promotion pushers. Alfie Acquah and Sandro Weiser are players who have also left the club, trading the bench and loans for regular football - all the while Hoffenheim manage to get decent fees for their services.
