Oliver Kahn has come out and questioned whether Arturo Vidal's move to the Bavarian capital was the right idea, and whether the Chilean actually suits Pep Guardiola's methods.

Bayern Munich recently captured Chilean international Arturo Vidal from Juventus for an initial transfer fee of €37 million; the Bavarian's moved for Vidal after losing club veteran and icon, Bastian Schweinsteiger to Manchester United. The Chilean has already had a stint in the Bundesliga, making a name for himself during a four year spell with Bayer Leverkusen between 2007 to 2011 before moving to Juventus, after being heavily linked with a move to Bayern.

However, in a recent interview with Kicker legendary Bayern 'keeper Oliver Kahn questioned die Roten's purchase of the Chilean. Kahn stated, "He does not really fit in with Pep Guardiola's philosophy".  This comes at a time where the Spaniard, Guardiola, has come under scrutiny from some sections of the German media as well as some of his own fans.

Vidal made his debut for Bayern in the defeat to VfL Wolfsburg in the DFL-Supercup, replacing Thiago Alcântara on 74 minutes. The former Juventus man, successfully converted his penalty. He scored his first goal for Pep Guardiola's side in the 3-1 victory over FC Nöttingen at the weekend in the DFB-Pokal.

Kahn however did admit that Vidal does have qualities that will benefit the Bavarians this campaign. "Vidal brings a certain agression and special mentality to the side" Kahn said.

Replacing a legend

In 28 appearances last campaign, Vidal scored seven times as he helped the Old Lady to their fourth Serie A title on the trot. Compared to Bastian Schweinsteiger, whom he is replacing, who only made 20 appearances scoring on five occasions. However the Chilean will have a hard task replacing Schweinsteiger who made 342 appearances in a 13 year spell at Sabener Straße.
