Karlsruher SC have announced the arrival of Mohamed Gouaida on a year-long loan deal from Hamburger SV. He has been handed the number 17 at his new club.

A chance to establish himself in the first-team

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who is happy to play across any of the attacking positions, will be keen to finally get some regular first-team football with the 2. Bundesliga club. They had been slightly lacking in creativity early on this season, despite already having the likes of Manuel Torres and Hiroki Yamada, and Gouaida will surely only increase the problems they cause to opposition defences.

Before joining HSV, the Tunisia international started off with Racing Strasbourg and fellow German club, SC Freiburg. The move north last year saw him join the second side, but he quickly accelerated up the ranks and into the Bundesliga team. Despite not scoring a goal or adding an assist, eleven appearances in his opening season represented a rapid rise he can certainly be proud of.

Gouaida and Todt have their say

"The discussions were good, KSC are a big club," as Gouaida expressed his feelings on the transfer. "The team is playing very good football, that was the case last year and now it is the same again - and that's good for me." He does face tough competition for places, however, with Torres, Yamada, Dimitrij Nazarov and Jung-Bin Park for a place in Markus Kauczinski's starting eleven.

"Mohamed is an strong runner and creative player, who will make us more," said Karlsruhe sporting director, Jens Todt. He added, "We hope to be more difficult to predict with him in our team." Todt will most certainly be placing his hopes on the attacker, as Karlsruhe aim to go one step further than last year and make a return to the Bundesliga.
