23-year-old South Korean, Heung-Min Son has completed his move from Bayer Leverkusen to Tottenham Hotspur for a fee believed to be around £22m. Shortly after, Leverkusen announced signing of Borussia Dortmund winger, Kevin Kampl.

Son in Germany

Spurs and Leverkusen have announced that Son has signed with the North London side in a contract running until 2020, subject to being granted a work permit and international clearance. The talented attacker made a total of 165 appearances, spanning over five years in the Bundesliga, for Hamburger SV and Leverkusen respectively.

He began his senior career with Hamburg, and signed his first professional contract on his 18th birthday. He went on to make 78 appearances for HSV, scoring 20 times in the process, his first of which made him the youngest ever Hamburg player to score in the Bundesliga, at just 18 years of age.

In June 2013, Son signed for Bayer Leverkusen, in what was reported to be a then club record fee of €10m. Son scored 29 goals in 87 appearances for die Werkself, averaging a goal every three matches. Most notably, a hat-trick against former employers Hamburg, just five months after leaving the Dino.

Son has his say on the move

Upon joining Spurs, Son said, "I’m a player who really loves football. I learned the game under my father who was a football coach in my school." He said that he can use both feet freely, and believes that his play-style is "bold and daring". He conlcued, "I'm looking forward to going there and performing for the Spurs fans as soon as possible.” He will wear the number 7 shirt for Tottenham Hotspur.

Kampl brought in as Son's replacement

After confirming Son's departure to England, Leverkusen wasted no time in announcing the re-signing of Borussia Dortmund playmaker, Kevin Kampl. The 24 year-old Slovenian international only joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg earlier this year for a fee in the region of €12m, but after making only 13 appearances, in what was an unsuccessful spell with Die Schwarzgelben, a move from Dortmund to Leverkusen was probably in the best interests of both parties.

Kampl's career

Kampl actually began his senior career with Bayer Leverkusen back in 2009. He made 36 appearances for Bayer Leverkusen II, but was unable to establish himself in Bayer's first team, he spent time away from the club with loan spells with Greuther Fürth before transferring to 3. Liga side VfL Osnabrück.

Prior to his 13 Dortmund appearances, in which his performances yielded no goals and just a single assist, he had a successful three-year stint with Red Bull Salzburg. In his time there, he played over 70 times and registered just shy of 20 goals

At Salzburg, he played under current Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt, and to go alongside his impressive goalscoring tally, he registered 14 assists, the most throughout the 2013/14 season in the Austrain Bundesliga. Kevin Kampl will wear the number 44 shirt for Bayer Leverkusen.
