24-year-old left back, Gaëtan Bussmann, has secured a move to Bundesliga side, Mainz. He has signed a two-year deal, according to the club's official website today.

Pierre Bengtsson is Mainz's every day left-back, sometimes however, they will use their South Korean international, Joon-Ho Park. This move to get Bussmann will add more depth to not only that position, but along the center of defense as well as he has the frame and, some experience playing in those spots in his young career.

Career in France

Born in Épinal, he started his footballing career in their academy at the age of seven before moving to Metz's six years later. From then on, he played his football for that one club -- bar a loan move to his hometown club in 2012. While in the Metz academy, his U-19 side won the 2009/10 Coupe Gambardella, beating Sochaux on penalties.

Bussmann made his professional debut for the current Ligue 2 club at the age of 19 in a match against Vannes, starting at left back. After his debut, he went on to make 120 league appearances, scoring 11 times.

Style of play

Standing at 1,84 m, he is a bit taller than most outside backs around the world, but he has the pace to get up the field to support the attack while being able to get back and defend when the move is over.

His left foot is sensational. Bussmann can use it to float in dangerous crosses, take free kicks, and score sensational volley's -- as he did against Guingamp last season.

Martin Schmidt, Mainz boss, was quoted by the official website in saying that he is "fast, and good in the air," something that suits his clubs needs perfectly and should be able to make an instant impact once the international break is over.
