1. FC Kaiserslautern completed two deals late on deadline day, with Marcus Piossek arriving from Preußen Münster and Robert Pich from Slask Wroclaw. Both players have signed three-year deal at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion.

Piossek adds to the midfield options

24-year-old Piossek is a former-Germany under-21 midfielder and arrives at his new club in fine form. In five 3. Liga games, he has netted two goals. The season before was a real success as he contributed to 14 goals and was a fixture in their side; his eight assists and six goals helped them to an eighth-placed finish, just two points from Dynamo Dresden in sixth.

Speaking on the move, sporting director Markus Schupp said: "Marcus is a creative, attacking player for the wings, who runs a lot on the pitch and puts in a lot of effort, and has a good strike rate when scoring goals." Schupp also highlighted his form at previous clubs, as well as his consistency. He concluded, "He has the right mentality for the Betzenberg, despite his young age he already has a lot of experience."

Pich gives a different dimension up front

The pacey forward is a massive change from the usual strikers which the Red Devils purchase. Antonio-Mirko Colak and Kacper Przybylko offer more of a physical presence, and the new approach could be just what they need. Pich scored ten goals last season, and already has four to his name in this campaign.

The Slovakian international should adapt well to life in Kaiserslautern after moving from the Ekstraklasa. Schupp also gave his thoughts on Pich's move to the official club website: "Robert is a strong and prolific player and prolific. He is able to use both feet and has already shown his quality in the top Polish league, and even at the international level."
