With both teams coming into the match with a win from last weekend, Hamburger SV and Eintracht Frankfurt are keen to secure yet another three points and cap off a fine start to the new season on matchday five.

Season so far

Hamburger SV faced Borussia Mönchengladbach away from home last time out and arrived back in Hamburg with three points in their baggage. Despite of their hosts' poor performance, HSV played incredibly well and deservedly won three-nil thanks to a Pierre-Michel Lasogga brace and Nicolai Müller's goal.

What has been especially noticeable is the fact that Hamburg's players have made a great impression and are the exact opposite of last season. Last season was a hard fight for the players and the whole club, but currently they have fun at training, on the pitch and this was reflected in the start.

Two out of four matches were won, the others were lost, but Hamburg have already scored seven goals. In fact, Hamburg needed six matches to score their first goal in last season - and it was against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Eintracht Frankfurt's last was match against 1. FC Köln in the Commerzbank Arena and they humilitated Cologne 6-2, after going 4-1 ahead even before half-time whistle. Man of the match was definitely 'Fußballgott' Alexander Meier, who scored a hatt-rick, and new summer signing Luc Castaignos was also in a fine form after notching a brace Haris Seferovic, who played next to Castaignos and in front of Alexander Meier also scored.

What the coaches said before the match

In his press conference, HSV's Bruno Labbadia said that "they want to maintain the momentum" and "they are up for the match against Eintracht Frankfurt." The 49-year-old is planning without Albin Ekdal because "it does not look so that he will be available."

Labbadia has replacements, however, as he cited Gideon Jung, Gojko Kacar and Marcelo Diaz as possible player who'll fill the gap. The HSV boss was quick to laud plaudits on their opposition: "They have a good blend in their team and performed very well against 1. FC Köln last week."

Eintracht Frankfurt's coach Armin Veh also praised HSV and admitted he "sees an improvement at Hamburg." The upcoming match "will be very close and and only inches will decide the match" said Veh, who wants his team "to act and not only react."

Key players

Frankfurt's key player is definitely their captain, Alexander Meier, who put in a great performance against 1. FC Köln. He scored a hat-trick and will definitely cause difficulties for Hamburg's defenders. His qualities are known to Johan Djourou and Emir Spahic, who will be back after suspension, and both will need to be at their best to keep him quiet.

It is difficult to decide which player is the most important in Hamburg's team at the moment because, currently, the players are working as a collective. Nevertheless, it could well be Pierre-Michel Lasogga who could be the star of the match. In last game against Borussia Mönchengladbach, he showed that he was still able to cut it against the best and that he still has that goalscoring instinct.

Prediction

Last season the match in Hamburg's then Imtech Arena ended 1-2 in favour of Frankfurt, after Lucas Piazon scored a brilliant free-kick from 30 yards out. This goal is definitely still at the back of Hamburg players' minds and they want to return the favour. Both teams are in a good shape and a 1-1 draw should please both clubs.
