1. FC Kaiserslautern beat Fortuna Düsseldorf 3-0 in the Friday evening 2. Bundesliga game 3-0, without any difficulties.

Red Devils take an early lead

It was a tough start to the game for both teams as they failed to make headway with early attacking. Both Kaiserslautern and Düsseldorf were very cautious not to be too offensive and take the risk pf conceding an early goal against them.

After 12 minutes, a corner by Fortuna was cleared by the FCK defence, starting a counter attack with Jean Zimmer. The right back played a good cross to Chris Löwe, who passed to Marcus Piossek. He had no difficulties in making it 1-0 for the Rote Teufel, leaving Fortuna 'keeper Michael Rensing without a chance.

Fortuna's striker Mike van Duinen had a very good opportunity in the 22nd minute when Lautern's stopper Marius Müller stopped his decent effort with his foot, causing a corner. In the 36th minute, Kacper Przybylko had another chance for Kaiserslautern, but Rensing stopped his shot from distance.

Second half sees Kaiserslautern continue dominance

Only a few seconds after the start of the second half, Michael Rensing made another excellent save. He stopped a difficult shot by Chris Löwe from 20 meters with an heroic save. After 49 minutes, Haggui had a good chance for Fortuna, but Chris Löwe stopped his effort on the goal line.

In the 54th minute, Lautern scored the second goal of the evening; Daniel Halfar crossed a free kick into the box, where Stipe Vucur jumped higher than his opponents to head it home.

Düsseldorf really struggled to co-ordinate a good offensive play. As a consequence, the Lautern fans had no reason to worry about the home win against a very harmless side.

In the 76th minute, it was again FCK who had the opportunity. After a header by Przybylko, Ruben Jenssen somehow managed not to score four meters away from the goal, completely free, with only Rensing in front of him. The ball went high and wide.

In stoppage time, Antonio Mirko Colak scored the third goal and added the icing on top of the cake following a counter attack, beating Rensing in a one-on-one.

It was a really poor performance by Fortuna Düsseldorf on the night. They barely created opportunities and Kaiserslautern won the home game easily, without playing exceptionally well themselves.  For Lautern, it was an important win as the team is now 6th of the table. Fortuna stay on 16th place.
