Vedad Ibisevic looks to be staying with Hertha BSC for the foreseeable future, after it was reported that a clause had been activated to keep him at the club until 2017. It is unclear what exactly the clause was, but kicker say it will tie him to Hertha on a permanent basis.

A match made in heaven

The official confirmation of the clubs has not yet arrived. However, Lars-Wilhelm Baumgarten, from Ibisevic's agency, Arena11 Sports Group, said: "Vedad's future lies in Berlin." This comes after the Bosnian international found his goalscoring touch again, following 20 months without finding the net at VfB Stuttgart. After joining the capital club, the 31-year-old has scored an impressive four goals in five appearances.

"I wanted to show that I can play as well as before," claimed Ibisevic before his move. Now, he believes that it has "motivated" him in the "right way". The forward's wage had been split between the two clubs and, should be move on, will receive a severance payment from the Swabians at the end of the season, according to transfermarkt.

Hertha on their way up in the Bundesliga table

His goals have helped shoot Herta up to fourth in the Bundesliga table, a quite incredible achievement from Pal Dardai and his players. It is made even more remarkable when the Hungarian head coach was brought in to save them from relegation last year, and has spurred them to early season success with a largely similar squad.

Hertha will have the chance to move up to the lofty heights of third after the international break, when they take on Schalke 04. After 1. FC Köln got the better of the Gelsenkirchen side at the weekend, the Berliners will fancy their chances of taking all three points and an in-form Ibisevic will only aid their charge.
