Despite going two-nil up, VfL Bochum blew the chance to get back to winning ways by conceding three times in 18 minutes against FSV Frankfurt.

Bochum clinical in opening period

Bochum began brightly and two early attempts from Giliano Wijnaldum gave André Weis a touch of the ball. Frankfurt didn't heed the warning and were suitably punished. Anthony Losilla played a brilliant through ball to Simon Terodde, catching the home defence off-guard. The forward stayed calm in front of goal, lifting it over the oncoming Weis to give the visitors a the advantage.

One became two not long later, with Tim Hoogland getting on the scoresheet. Marco Terrazzino's initial attempt wasn't cleared by Weis or Alexander Huber, leaving the former-Schalke 04 defender to tap home from close range. The hosts were, to say the least, shocked.

They did try to force themselves onto the Bochum defence late in the half, as Zlatko Dedic began to put himself about and trouble Patrick Fabian and Felix Bastians. Lukas Gugganig and Felipe Pires both had chances to bring their side back into the game before the break, though neither managed to convert.

Frankfurt complete fantastic comeback

Frankfurt began the second half better, too, but were failing to find the target from range. When they finally got up close, they began their fightback. Besar Halimi and Pires combined to set Dedic bearing down on goal, and he kept his cool to beat Andreas Luthe.

Bochum were rattled and found their lead wiped out completely in the space of three minutes. Marc-André Kruska's corner was met powerfully by Florian Ballas, and he managed to steer the ball home to shift the momentum the way of the hosts.

It could all have turned once more, however, as Weis produced a stunning save to deny Hoogland his brace. That moment was crucial and FSV went on to win the game. Enis Haji Safi's delivery was bundled home by Edmond Kapllani in the final minutes to inflict a third defeat in four on the former league leaders.
