Colin Bell has swapped his managerial post at 1. FFC Frankfurt for a spot at the helm of Avaldsnes.
Bell led Frankfurt to Champions League glory back in May, earning himself a nomination for Coach of the Year, but has terminated his contract with the German club by mutual consent in favour of a switch to Norway.
Assistant coaches Matt Ross and Kai Rennich will assume training duties for the moment as FFC look for a replacement.
Bell relishing new chapter of career
Speaking to Frankfurt's official website, Bell reflected more than positively on his time with the club, saying that he has "had a great time" with them and is "very proud and grateful" to have worked with a "great team" and have "dedicated support" behind him.
The former Manchester City player continued, saying that he is now looking for to "a new challenge" that can help him "refocus [his] career" as he prepares to take over Norwegian side Avaldsnes, who finished second in the Toppserien this year.
He added that it is "easy" for him to move onto this new chapter after such a "beautiful and successful time in Frankfurt," wishing the club "all the best" as he leaves.
Up and down start to the season
It has not been the smoothest of starts to the Frauen-Bundesliga season for Frankfurt, and being managerless now will not help their cause.
Bell leaves the team having ended a four game winless run in the league and having advanced them to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but they have been unconvincing to say the least, with a 4-0 loss to Freiburg and a 1-1 draw with Werder Bremen very unexpected results for the European champions.
As a result, the club will hope to bring in someone as quickly as possible to get them back on track as they look to narrow the nine-point gap between them in fourth and leaders Bayern Munich in the league.
