After only six months at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei, Ukrainian defender Denis Prychynenko has cancelled his contract with the club based in the East of city, Union Berlin.

After making the move back to the country of his origin from CSKA Sofia, the Potsdam native was unable to make a single first team appearance for die Eiserne

The defender has been in controversy with his club, after taking to the courts in late December to force Union Berlin to allow him to take part in training. Prychynenko had been banned, with manager Sascha Lewandowski announcing "both may leave the club" at the end of October - it appears today the Ukrainian had his wish.

Prychynenko may now search for a new club, after a horror spell in Berlin.

Frustrating time to be had for the Ukrainian

Following a youth career with TeBe Berlin and Energie Cottbus, the German with Ukrainian descent made the move to Hearts of Midlothian. Prychynenko progressed at Tynecastle and following a loan with Raith Rovers broke through with the Edinburgh club.

The Ukrainian, Prychynenko, was soon on the move again and this time ended up in his ancestral homeland - the Ukraine, with FC Sevastopol. Yet with the Crimean club in the heart of the proxy war sharing the same name as the peninsula the club and city is based on, the defender soon found himself in the Bulgarian capital with CSKA Sofia

Prychynenko impressed with Bulgaria's most famous club and was rewarded with a move to die Eiserne in the summer. However, he found playing time a rare commodity at that and did not represent the Alten Förestai club once in a competitive match, although he did play and score in a friendly against FC Fredericia. The two parties decided today [12th January] that both sides should part way, as Denis Prychynenko's contract was cancelled; leaving the defender without a club, and a free agent.
