Bayern Munich have signed German international Serdar Tasci on loan until the end of the season. The 28-year-old centre-back has been brought in for cover after a number of injures to the Bundesliga leaders' backline.

On Sunday afternoon, in Bayern's 2-0 victory over Hoffenheim, Pep Guardiola was forced to play the centre-back pairing of Holger Badstuber and Joshua Kimmich.

Jerome Boateng and Javi Martinez are both out injured and Medhi Benatia has only just returned to training after his injury.

Action was needed from the champions and with that they've brought in Tasci from Spartak Moscow. The defender has plenty of experience in the Bundesliga after coming through the youth ranks and spending seven seasons in the Stuttgart first team.

Sammer content with Bayern signing

So far this season, Tasci has made seventeen starts for Spartak Moscow and contributed to a goal in the league and a goal in the Russian Cup. Spartak are currently in fourth place in the league and have conceded twenty-three goals.

Sporting Director Matthias Sammer was very pleased with the signing. “We’re delighted at the opportunity to bring a player like Serdar Tasci to FC Bayern at short notice," he stated. "Thanks to his quality and experience, he’s in a position to help us at once.”

As for Tasci, the player certainly seems happy in signing for the German champions. “I’m feeling very good and I’m really looking forward to the new challenge", he said. "I hope I can be of assistance to the team.”

Tasci must prove himself in Germany again

The defender's first game for Bayern could be in Saturday's evening match where Bayern travel to face Bayer Leverkusen. It's a tough match for Tasci to come into and all eyes will definitely be on the new man, with the next few weeks likely to show if he still has what it takes to play in the Bundesliga again.

The German top flight is a league in which he wants to impress in after a number of clubs have shown interest in the last few windows.
