A busy January transfer window for Eintracht Frankfurt was topped off with the arrival of two Hertha BSC players.

Anis Ben-Hatira and Yanni Regäsel have both made a permanent switch south to Armin Veh's side.

Regäsel recruited

The arrival of Regäsel is a slight surprise, more in the sense that he seemed to be a talent that Hertha would treasure and grow with the side.

The 20-year-old is also a German youth international and made his Bundesliga debut for the capital club this season, before going on to make a further five appearances.

Regäsel managed to feature over 100 times across Hertha's reserve and youth teams, but a settled defence have prevented him from making a breakthrough.

With Frankfurt's full-backs advancing in their years and Regäsel showing he is full of energy - but with the wise head to steady him - he could be the perfect solution.

Makoto Hasebe, usually a defensive midfielder, has been favoured by Veh but the chance to develop an already talented player could swing things in the youngster's favour.

Ben-Hatira brought in

Ben-Hatira has struggled for game time recently, with the strengthening of the Hertha wing corps certainly playing a part in his reduced role.

The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has made a total of 81 Bundesliga appearances for both Hertha and Hamburger SV, as well as boasting eight Tunisia caps.

This is a short-term deal for Ben-Hatira to prove his worth to the Frankfurt board and staff, as his contract runs until the end of the season with the Eagles.

Sporting director Bruno Hübner spoke about the attacker's arrival with the club website, "He's experienced and can be used in different positions but prefers to play on the left."

He added, "With him we have another good alternative for our attacking game."
