Borussia Mönchengladbach sporting director, Max Eberl has told kicker that he is keen to talk to Chelsea over Andreas Christensen's future.

The Danish defender has impressive massively during his time at Borussia-Park, and still has another season-and-a-half left on his loan deal.

An important part of the rebuilding process

Christensen has made a massive impression since joining Gladbach, especially on the fans.

He was crowned their player of the month for January and also won the award in October.

Only Swedish full-back Oscar Wendt prevented him from claiming player of the Hinrunde, showing just how well-liked and appreciated he is at the club.

After enjoying star status amongst the other Chelsea academy prospects, the centre-back is showing his parent side why youth deserves a chance.

Eberl stakes his claim

It is understandable then, given his recent form and performances, that the Foals are keen to keep him in Westfalen.

Eberl is keen to do that, and made his intentions clear - he wants to "try and get into talks with Chelsea in the summer", most likely in a bid to make his stay permanent.

While also confirming that there was no recall option in the deal, he added, "Andreas fulfils everything we've seen in him. And we are delighted that we were able to take him on loan without any ifs and buts."

A surge under Schubert

After Lucien Favre departed the club, Christensen has been a feature in the side. He played just two of five league games under Favre.

However, he has played in every game under André Schubert and has proven the Swiss right for placing his faith in him.

The 19-year-old, who is already a two-time Danish international, also managed to score his first Bundesliga goal last weekend - netting a brace against Weder Bremen.
