On Saturday, 1860 Munich completed the signing of Montenegro international, Filip Stojkovic.

He arrived from FK Čukarički - for a fee around the €750k region - and signed a five-year deal at the Allianz Arena.

This is a big move for both club and player, with 1860 showing they aren't afraid to spend in order to get back up towards the top end of the division.

SuperLiga to 2. Bundesliga

Stojkovic has been a key player for Čukarički over the last few seasons, and was even made captain for this current campaign.

He leaves the Serbian side having featured over 100 times for them, which included an impressive 34 last term with six assists to his name.

The 23-year-old began his career with Red Star Belgrade but didn't feature much in their plans; he was loaned out to FK Banat Zrenjanin before joining Čukarički.

Stojkovic does have a Montenegrin team-mate in the 1860 squad, with fellow national team member, Stefan Mugosa within the Lions' ranks.

He joins Karim Matmour, Jan Zimmermann and Sascha Mölders as the high-profile players to strengthen Kosta Runjaic's side.

There have, however, been some notable departures. Richard Neudecker, Christopher Schindler, Gary Kagelmacher and Rubin Okotie have all left the Bavarian outfit.

Eichin has his say

Sporting director, Thomas Eichin said: "Filip is physically robust and can be used on either full-back position. His key strength? Turning defence into attack."

Eichin, speaking to the club website, was keen to speak highly of Stojkovic: "Despite his young age he is someone who assumes responsibility."

He added, "Filip has already shown this in the previous season when he took to the field for FC Cukaricki as captain."
