VfL Wolfsburg have announced that Dynamo Dresden winger, Marvin Stefaniak, will join the Wolves next summer.

The 21-year-old attacker will join the Bundesliga side on July 1st for a reported fee of €1.5million, plus add-ons.

In a statement released by the club, Wolfsburg sporting director, Klaus Allofs, said about the acquisition of Stefaniak: "We are very pleased that Marvin decided to join VfL Wolfsburg. He is a young, highly talented player, but already has a lot of experience and has established himself at Dynamo Dresden as a regular player.”

Allofs added, “The situation is perfect, because Marvin can still earn another year of experience in the second division, and then in the coming year, the leap to the Bundesliga will be easier for him."

One for the future

Stefaniak was one of the stars for Dynamo last season, as the East German side comfortably won the 3. Liga title, with Stefaniak scoring four goals, and assisting an astonishing 17 times in 34 league games for Dresden.

The left-sided winger has also been recently included in the Germany under-21 set up, alongside Dynamo team-mate, Marvin Schwäbe, and future Wolfsburg teammates Yannick Gerhardt, and Maximilian Arnold.

Stefaniak came through the Dresden youth system after joining the club from SC Borea Dresden at 15-years-old. He made his debut two years later, and has since gone on to make over 75 appearances for SDG and becoming a fan favourite at the East German club.

Prepared to give his all until the end of the season

Speaking to the official club website, Stefaniak said: "The dream of the Bundesliga is true for me. I am absolutely convinced that this is the right move for me."

He continued, “I will always be grateful to Dynamo Dresden, because here I have become the player I am today. I will do everything to say goodbye at Dynamo with a successful second division season."

Stefaniak has already been effective for Dresden in their comeback season to 2. Bundesliga, scoring a beautiful free kick over the weekend in Dresden’s 2-0 win away to Hannover 96 on Sunday.
