Roma have turned down a €20 million offer for Marquinhos from Real Madrid, according to Milan-based, la Gazzetta dello Sport. The young Brazilian defender had a breakthrough this season, and has drawn the attention of multiple clubs around Europe.

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have been rumoured to be interested in Marquinhos all season, but only the Madrid-based club have made a formal offer.

La Gazzetta dello Sport also reports that Roma are uninterested by offers for Marquinhos as they have labelled him as one of the pillars they hope  to rebuild the squad around.

Earlier this year, Marquinhos personally denied that he is looking to leave the Eternal City. "Everything is happening very fast at the moment. I try not to look too far ahead," the centre-back told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "The interest from a number of important clubs? I am not thinking about a transfer. I owe Roma a lot for the chance they gave me."
