One year after his arrival in Milan, Ricardo Montolivo is set to captain the Rossoneri during the 2013/14 campaign. Galliani confirmed that the former Fiorentina man will become the outright captain, after the departure of Massimo Ambrosini, "[Ricardo] Montolivo will be Milan's captain".

Galliani also stated that long time vice-captain, Christian Abbiati had no qualms with the decision, "I spoke to Abbiati and there were no problems".

The Italian international enjoyed a successful first season in the heart of Milan's midfield, he scored four goals in the Serie A, and even captained the side when Abbiati and Ambrosini were unavailable.
