Today, the judges of the Fourth Criminal Court have sentenced former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, to seven years in prison. Berlusconi has been charged with having sexual interaction with an underage prostitute, and abuse of his position of power, pending an appeal. The latter offense was transformed during the trail from the much more severe crime of extortion under duress.

The A.C. Milan president, who took up his position as president for the second time in 2012, has been previously emboiled in a tax fraud case, in which he was sentenced to four years in prison in October 2012.

Berlusconi was the Italian Prime Minister on three separate occasions: 1994 - 1995, 2001 - 2006, and 2008 - 2011, and his "The People of Freedom" party gained 29.1% of the popular vote in the 2013 Italian general election. Due to the stipulations of his sentence, he has now been banned from public office for life.
