With reports swirling that he could leave A.S. Roma this summer, Daniele De Rossi has stated that he is concentrating on working under Rudi Garcia in the Stadio Olimpico: "The last few seasons have not gone well, that is clear. What we need is to be reborn and this pre-season is a great place to start. This is the preparation for a revival ahead of an important year. The club has always been a strong one, even when things were not going well for a few years. However, something has been missing or else we wouldn't have had these negative seasons. We are not missing a lot, but we are lacking a little. What we really need is enthusiasm. We need to put a winning run of games together and start to believe in ourselves again."

De Rossi, who has been linked to both Chelsea and PSG, revealed that he has no problem playing in any position new Roma manager, Rudi Garcia, sees fit for him: "I've never made myself unavailable for a particular tactical solution... I've played as a playmaker, a ball-winner, and even as a libero."

The 30 year old Azzurri international has plyed his trade in Rome for 12 years, playing 418 games and scoring 47 goals in the process.

Fellow Roma legend, Francesco Totti, took the time to speak to the Roma Channel yesterday, wishing De Rossi a happy birthday as well as urging the midfielder to stay in Rome: "Best wishes to De Rossi on his birthday, even though you are getting old now and are practically finished. It will be best if you give us a present rather than the other way around, so stay here at Roma and we will win something beautiful together."
