Inter goalkeeper, Samir Handanovic, has spoken to La Gazzetta Dello Sport of his sides recent friendly defeats, and describe them as being important for the players as they will remain grounded: "We suffered big defeats against both Valencia and Udinese, but these types of defeats will do us the world of good.  They help you to keep your feet on the ground and remember football is all about hard work. Either you work as a team or you will not achieve anything."

The goalkeeper has been previously linked with Barcelona, but has made it clear that he will stay at Inter this summer: "I don’t listen to the rumours, as I prefer to stay concentrated. A goalkeeper has to be fully focused, as he works with hundredths of a second. My present is Inter. What my future will be, we’ll have to wait and see.”

Handanovic, when asked about the tactical changes made by new manager, Walter Mazzarri, stated: There are some differences from last year. What must change is the mentality, which last season we did not concentrate on enough. Inter player's must be ready to sacrifice everything during a match."

“We have to think of ourselves as a side who are no longer a superpower. There's no point in kidding ourselves, that is the situation. Inter no longer have 11, or even more, top players like they did under Roberto Mancini or Jose Mourinho.

“We need to start from the ABCs of football, going back to basics and defensive organisation."
