With Tottenham Hotspur's star man Gareth Bale set to move to Real Madrid for a reported world record fee of £86 million, Real Madrid's new assistant coach and Real Madrid legend, Zinedine Zidane, has offered to mentor the Welshman when he signs.

Speaking to the Sunday People, Zidane stated: "I know what it is to be the most expensive player in the world and I can hopefully offer him advice and mentor him. There's always a lot of attention with a big transfer fee. As a player you don't even think about the fee, but there is hysteria that comes with it."

The world cup winner was previously burdened with the tag of "world's most expensive player", when he signed for Real Madrid from Juventus for £48 million in 2001. He quickly repaid his huge fee however, guiding Los Blancos to their 9th UEFA Champions League triumph.

My door at Real Madrid will always be open for Gareth and during his first season he will need to use it. He was in the top three player in Europe last season, but he can reach even higher levels. He will get even better. We are looking at a guy who can be the best player in the world for the next four or five years."

Zidane declared in May that he believes that Bale is the 3rd best player in the world, after Messi and Ronaldo:

"Aside from Ronaldo and Messi, Bale is the footballer who impresses me most. He particularly impresses me because he is consistent; he doesn't just raise his level for one or two matches, he is consistently good, consistently scoring important goals."

Gareth Bale is expected to complete his move to Real Madrid sometime next week.
