Napoli 3-0 Bologna - Benitez: “I expected this”

Napoli manager Rafael Benitez declared his satisfaction with his opening game in charge which saw his new side defeat Bologna 3-0.  He announced to Sky Sport Italia that he “Expected this sort of match from my men”. 

Lorenzo Insigne did not start due to a stomach bug but Benitez confirmed he was happy with his squad telling Sky Sport Italia “We have the capability to change things around often”.  And it was one of the new signings, Jose Maria Callejon, who opened the scoring.  Marek Hamsik went on to add a brace, repaying Benitez’s faith in him for selecting him as captain. 

Napoli are looking to improve on last season’s performance which saw them finish 2^nd behind Juventus in Serie A.  And although Benitez stressed that “We are only at the beginning”, midfielder Blerim Dzemaili is confident Napoli can compete with Juventus this year.  The Swiss international told Blick that “We can battle for the title”.
