After arriving in Italy, former Lyon wide player, Michel Bastos, told Italian reporters: "Forza Roma! It is very pleasing to be here."

Although the 30 year old was reportedly set for a move to Napoli this week, Bastos has appeated to have chosen to join up with his former manager, Rudi Garcia, at the Giallorossi. Rudi Garcia, who worked with Bastos at LOSC Lille, addressed the deal during his post match press conference today:

"It is not a done deal just yet, but the negotiations at a very advanced stage."

"He is a versitile player. He can play on both the left and right side, has a great shot, good technique, and can also play at left back if needed. We will be covered in many different positions."

"I have been tracking his progress since he left Lille, from Lyon to Schalke and then finally at Al Ain. I maintained contact with him, and I knew a deal was a great possibility for us."

"He was very eager to come back to Europe, so I am happy."

"He's not just a top player, but also a good man."

Bastos is set to sign a six month loan deal with wages worth €1.5m. It will cost Roma a further €3.5m to sign the wide player on a permanent deal in the Summer.
