According to Tuttomercatoweb, AS Roma defender Mehdi Benatia could be set to extend his current deal with the club after an impressive first season at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Moroccan international, signed for €13.5m from Udinese last summer, has made 30 appearances for i Giallorossi this term scoring five goals in the process. However, his contribution at the other end of the field has alerted a number of Europe's top outfits as Rudi Garcia's side ended the season conceding just 24 goals. Despite boasting one of the best defensive records in Europe's top five leagues, Roma were unable to prevent Juventus winning their third scudetto in three years and recent reports suggest their star defender could be tempted by the lure of Manchester City, Manchester United and Barcelona.

Benatia is likely to demand £50,000-a-week to stay at the club, double what he currently earns.
