Former AC Milan coach, Max Allegri, is set to take over as Juventus coach after Antonio Conte's shock departure.

After a meeting with club officials in Turin this morning, Allegri has reportedly agreed to a two year deal with the Serie A champions, who, under Antonio Conte, dominated Italian football over the past three years.

La Vecchia Signora's press officer, Gabriella Ravizzotti, confirmed that Allegri will be unveiled as the new Juventus manager today at three o'clock:

"Massimiliano Allegri will be unveiled at 1500 on Wednesday as the new coach of Juventus".

The resignation of Conte and subsequent appointment of Allegri has been greeted with bewilderment by the Juventini. Most notably, Allegri's strained relationship with the club's star man, Andrea Pirlo, has been scrutinised by the Juventus faithful.

Pirlo addressed his film days at Milan under Allegri in his autobiography, "I Think Therefore I Play", revealing that Allegri did not feel that he could no longer play the regista role for the club, believing that he may be better suited to a place on the left of the midfield:

"Andrea, our coach Massimiliano Allegri reckons that if you stay, you won’t be able to play in front of the defence. He’s got a different role in mind for you. Still in midfield, but on the left."

"I got on well with everyone and had a normal kind of relationship with Allegri – there was just something in the air. I recognised the walls that over the years had sheltered and protected me, but now I was starting to see cracks. I could sense some kind of draught that was out to make me sick." (quotes via Goal)
