After demolishing CSKA Moscow by a score of 5-1 in the Champions League this week, Garcia's men came out firing early and often as they defeat lowly Cagliari 2-1, who now sit second from the botom in the Serie A table.

Destro had the first chance of the match within four minutes as he shot tamely with his right foot towards debutant goalkeeper Alessio Cargano. The next real chance came six minutes later as the Italian forward gave Roma the early 1-0 lead with ten minutes gone on the clock. It was a lovely move from the home side as Gervinho slipped through Florenzi, who continued by squaring up the ball to Destro who placed it past Cargano.

Florenzi was active and his hard work was rewarded three minutes later as he doubled Roma's lead. It was Gervinho again, who was magnificent all match long, as Keita found him with a beautiful ball and Florenzi rocketed his shot into the back of the net. Not much happened after that as Cagliari found it difficult to break down the stout Roman defense and on 41 minutes Nianggolan had a go from the top of the box but his effort was hit over the bar.

Shortly after the hour mark, Maicon bursted down the right side, cut back inside and skied his shot well over the target. With ten minutes left to go, Cagliari fnally had their first decent chance of the match as Longo shot dangerously with his left foot, but De Scantis was there to make a fantastic finger tip save to keep the clean sheet in tact. With this result, Roma move to the top of the league with the goal differential in their favor as they have won their first three matches of the new season.
