Week three of Serie A turned out to be quite low scoring. A total of only 18 goals were scored in a week that saw Juventus and Roma both maintain a 100% record. Napoli’s bad form continued in 1-0 defeat to Udinese while Inter Milan struggled to a draw against a spirited Palermo. We pay homage to the best performances during the week.

Player of the Week:

Antonio Cassano
The ‘Peter Pan’ of Calcio struck a brace of impeccable quality to claim a comeback win for Parma. In the second half, Cassano turned on the style by cutting in from the left and sending a rocket in to the top right hand corner to score the equalizer. Put the match beyond doubt by starting and finishing a wonderful team move by volleying in to the right top corner.

In the post-match interview he dedicated the brace to Jonathan Biabany, who is suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Class act. Class performance.

Honorable Mentions:

Paul Pogba:
The young Frenchman keeps on getting better with every showing. Dominated the entire match and ensured Abate was pinned in his own half.  Displayed trickery and strength by holding off Poli and delivering a cute reverse pass for the winner.

Rafael:
A man of the match performance from the Hellas Verona goalkeeper. The Brazilian dealt calmly with everything Torino threw at him including a double save of El Kaddouri's penalty and follow up to keep a clean sheet.

Alessandro Florenzi:
The Roman starred in a 2-0 victory against Cagliari. Delivered a perfect low cross to set up Mattia Destro for the opener and put the game to bed by rifling a low shot in the far corner. Earned a yellow card for going over the barrier to hug his grandmother after scoring.

Carlos Tevez:
‘El Apache’ has started the season all guns blazing and features again in our honorable mentions. Typically buzzed around the final third and proved to be the decisive factor for the Old Lady. Showed composure and quick feet by sending a dinked finish over a flailing Abbiati.
