After a relatively easy 2-0 win against Cagliari over the weekend, Rudi Garcia’s men needed an 88th minute winner from Miralem Pjanic to win 2-1 and maintain their 100% record.

Early on in the game both teams struggled to create any clear cut chances and the goal keepers remained largely anonymous. As the first half went on, Francesco Totti’s influence on the game started to grow.

A counter attack started by a delicious first time pass by Adem Ljajic almost resulted in a goal with Gervinho inches away from a final pass by Totti.

Er Pupone belied his age by appearing in space and releasing a perfectly weighted pass to Adem Ljajic. The Serbian matched the quality of the pass with a first time finish through Mirante’s legs to put Roma 1-0 ahead at the 27th minute mark.

Totti almost registered a second assist by sending a 30 meter pass over the defence for Gervinho. The ball barely evaded the Ivorian outstretched leg.

A clever flick by Antonio Cassano, started a good team move allowing Jose Mauri to back heel the ball in to De Ceglie’s path. The Italian hit a first time snap shot that flashed wide of De Sanctis’ far post and the keeper remained untested as the whistle blew for the first half.

Parma FC started the second half much stronger. Antonio Cassano, who had been kept quiet by the Roman defence, started pulling strings.

Cutting in from the left “Pibe de Bari” angled a low shot from distance which had De Sanctis scrambling across to put the ball behind. From the resulting corner, De Ceglie got the better of Torosidis and powered a header beyond the keeper to equalize.

Within minutes of the equalizer, AS Roma had the chance to pull ahead. A first time volleyed pass from Totti found Gervinho in space. The Ivorian continued his run in to the box and squared the ball for Totti’s late run. ‘Il Capitano’ wasted the opportunity by blazing his effort over the crossbar.

Sunday's hero Alessandro Florenzi replaced Ljajic as Rudi Garcia attempted to go for the winner. A corner clearance fell kindly for the livewire Roman, the finish did not match the ball control as his left footed volley from the edge went straight to Mirante.

Minutes later, the Roman winger was in the thick of the action. Put through by Maicon, the Italian international locked on odds to score only to be denied by  Felipe’s last ditch tackle.

In the last 15 minutes of the game, Parma FC seemed content to settle for a draw while AS Roma pilled on the pressure in search of a winner.

On the 88th minute Parma’s defence finally cracked under sustained Roman pressure.

Mattia Destro on for Francesco Totti, won a costless kick at the edge of the area. Assuming costless kick duties, Miralem Pjanic curled a beauty in to the top right corner. The ball kissed the cross bar on its way in, leaving Mirante with absolutely no chance.

Parma poured players forward in the dying minutes in search of a late equalizer but Roma’s defence held strong to claim all 3 points.
