Inter and Napoli shared the points after a brilliant 4-goal thriller at the San Siro

The game started brightly for the hosts when Obi cut inside from Insigne and fired from long range but his shot was comfortably saved by Rafael to deny the midfielder. Zuniga minutes later drived a low shot straight into the arms of Handanovic to give the visitors a stepping stone into the game. Hernanes almost created a chance for Icardi when the Brazilian chipped in a brilliant ball into the penalty box for Icardi in the 18th minute but the former Sampdoria striker blasted the ball high over the bar. Icardi came close again in the 23rd minute to breaking the deadlock when Dodo sent in a good cross into the penalty box, but Icardi was just too short of the ball and it went behind for a goal kick.

Hernanes had the best chance of the first half to give Inter the lead in the 38th minute when the former Lazio creative midfielder lost his marker in Inler and the midfielder volleyed the ball from outside the box and the ball thundered off the post to deny Inter the lead. Handanovic was forced off his line in the 43rd minute when Insigne played a deep, dangerous ball to Higuain, but the Slovenian keeper managed to punch the ball clear of danger. That was the last chance of a somewhat dull game between these two Serie A giants. Inter enjoyed a majority of the chances with Icardi and Hernanes both coming close for the hosts. Napoli spent most of the opening half having to defend against an Inter onslaught but the visitors seemed more than capable of creating a few chances, with Lorenzo Insigne being the creator behind Napoli’s opportunities.

Napoli started the second half the strongest when Insigne hit the post in the 49th minute. The Italian playmaker was played through on goal but his weak effort failed to beat Handanovic. Vidic came close in the 56th minute after a Hernanes corner came in and the Serbian headed high over the bar.

After 78th minutes of quite, typical Italian football, Jose Callejon brought the game into life as the Spaniard finally broke the deadlock. The 27-year-old latched onto a poor Vidic clearance from inside the penalty box and the former Real Madrid player fired the ball under Handanovic to give the visitors a surprising lead.

However, Napoli’s lead wouldn’t last for long as Inter equalised minutes later when super sub Freddy Guarin poked in from close range from Icardi’s header at the far post with his first touch of the game to level the scoring. In the 84th minute Inter Milan manager, Walter Mazzarri, was sent off for entering the field of play following Inter's equalising goal.

Callejon scored his second of the game when the winger sneaked his way past a motionless Inter defence as Lopez sent in a great cross and Callejon made perfect contact with ball and the side foot was more than enough to beat Handanovic.

Everything seemed to be going well for Napoli but once again the Partenopei failed to hang onto their lad when Hernanes equalised for Inter a minute later. Dodo whipped in a great cross into the box and Hernanes leaped high into the air and headed the ball past Rafael to make the score level again. Mbaye could have scored the winner for Inter in the last second of the match but his header from a Hernanes corner went just wide of the post.
