Napoli attacking midfielder Lorenzo Insigne has publicly vowed to come back stronger, after he underwent knee surgery earlier on this week. This was a direct result of the anterior cruciate ligament injury that he picked up in his right knee during Napoli's 1-0 win over Fiorentina on Sunday - and the early signs suggest that Insigne will be out of action for 6 months.

He had this to say: "These are the most difficult and hard days of my career, but this injury has given me the opportunity to understand and feel the warmth of the Napoli fans and all the people that have expressed affection towards me. I have received so many beautiful and moving messages that will give me further courage and determination to return to the pitch much stronger than before - I am proud to be from Naples and I will try to repay the love shown by the fans by giving everything I have to return to have a starring role for my beloved Napoli. In the meantime, I will remain close to the group and will be supporting the team and shouting as I've always done since I was a boy: Forza Napoli."

Napoli are currently third in the league, and with the Europa League also on the horizons, this injury could not have come at a worse time for Lorenzo. 6 months out, he'll be eager to recover quickly to help contribute in the latter stages of the season - and was reportedly set to be named in Conte's national squad for their upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier against Croatia, having started the majority of Napoli's games this campaign and doing well. A big blow.
