Salvatore Sirigu has warned Juventus not to underestimate Monaco ahead of the two sides Champions League first leg which is looming.

The Italian goalkeeper has a very sound knowledge of Monaco as he plays against them and sees their matches on a regular basis, as he is the current number one for Paris Saint-Germain.

“The Bianconeri should not make the mistake of underestimating them,” Sirigu cautioned as he spoke to Corriere della Sera.

“They’re in the Quarter Finals on merit.”

The former Palermo ‘keeper also discussed Serie A, and while reiterating that he doesn’t want to return in the near future, the 28-year-old thinks the competition is improving.

“I think in a short while the Italian League will return to the top where it was in the past. I don’t know if I’ll return one day, never say never, but right now I’m happy in Paris.

“I’d go back to Italy for pleasure and not out of necessity.”

Monaco defied the odds by beating English giants Arsenal in the first knockout stage of the Champions League on away goals.

Juventus also had to overcome tough opposition but made it look relatively easy beating an in-form Borussia Dortmund team who were slowly climbing up the Bundesliga table following an awful hindrunde.
