MLS pair New York Red Bulls and Orlando City are lining up a move for veteran midfielder Michael Essien whose contract expires with AC Milan in the summer according to various global media

Essien would most likely become a designated player for either side if he was to join them and a key factor in any may be who he'd rather pair in the midfield with. If he chose MLS new boys Orlando, he'd pair up with one time world player of the year Kaká and if he chose New York he'd partner up with forty-six time US international Sascha Kljestan.

Thirty-two year old Essien rejected the chance to join FC Dallas in January in favour of a European stay but with just five appearances for the San Siro outfit it is claimed he is fed up.

Essien joined Milan last summer on a free after almost ten years with Chelsea where he won many trophies including a champions league trophy and two premier league trophies.

Essien's compatriot and teammate Sulley Muntari has also been linked with a move to America.
